久慈琥珀博物館

琥珀の日本三大産地の1つである久慈。琥珀は鉱物ではありませんが白亜紀後期の樹脂化石ということで、長い年月を経て姿を現すところに鉱物と同じ魅力を感じます。ここの一押しは採掘体験。時が過ぎるのを忘れるくらい没頭できます。残念ながら大物には出会えなかったのでまた是非チャレンジしたいところです。また併設のレストランのランチコースはとても美味しく、こちらもおすすめです。（2017年7月）

Kuji Amber Museum

Kuji is one of the three biggest Amber fields in Japan. Amber in Kuji is believed to be the oldest in the world, formed about 85 million years ago. With variety of Amber exhibits, the museum provides interesting activities such as accessory making workshop and mining experience. I tried the mining and enjoyed a lot! It cost 1,500 JPY for 1 hour.   Restaurant "kunnoko"  next to the museum is servicing delicious western meals and is cozy place. (2017.July)
