Tsubanazaki

 

Tsubanazaki is located south of the Oma-town, where is famous for ”Tuna Fishing". There are columnar joint rocks of dacite from Tertiary age. It is interesting that local people call those columnar joint rocks  "lumber rock" and used them for fence or stone walls in their life. I found the rocks have been used for stairs to the sea at the site (see the last photo below) .

​津鼻崎

 

下北半島、マグロの一本釣りで有名な大間町の南端に位置する津鼻崎。第三紀中新世デイサイトの柱状節理が見られます。この辺り一帯では適当な大きさの岩石を「材木石」と呼び、垣根や石垣などに活用しているそうです。津鼻崎から少し南に行ったところに海岸へ降りられる場所がありましたが、階段にはこの「材木石」が使われており、柱状節理好きとしてはたまりません。（2017年7月）
