奥入瀬渓流​

十和田湖唯一の流出河川である奥入瀬川。この渓流が特徴的なのは歩道と車道が同じ高さで並行して走っていること。渓流は日本各地にありますが、その多くはゆっくりと時間をかけて徐々に削られ、崩壊を繰り返しながらできたV字型。アクセスしづらく険しい場所が一般的です。ところが奥入瀬渓流はカルデラ湖である十和田湖からの水が一気に放出されたことによって削られたために、U字に近い形になったとのこと。谷底にある程度の幅が保たれているので、散策もしやすく車まで走れるようになっているのですね。また落差はそれほどありませんが滝も点在しています。（2017年7月）

​​Oirase Gorge

​Oirase river is the only outflowing rivers out of Lake Towada. The uniqueness of this gorge is  relatively wide bottom that allows pathway and roadway are along on the same height. In Japan, there are many gorges and most of them are V-shaped that have been formed by erosion taking long time.  Due to the terrain, the access to those gorge is usually limited.

However, Oirase gorge is U-shaped, formed by the torrent at once from Lake Towada (caldear) that had no outflowing river until that time.  This flat bottom landscape provides easy access to the river and pathway at the same level. You can enjoy easy hike along the river and find some waterfalls and rocks.
